Five Central London venues, one kitchen on Hardwick Street, and a cargo bike in between.
City Canapé Company is the sister brand of Cavendish Venues, the group behind five meeting and event spaces across the City and the West End. The same people who look after the food at those venues make our canapés — by hand, on the morning of your event, at 1 Hardwick Street, EC1R.
That matters for one simple reason. If you are hosting a reception, a product launch or an after-conference drinks at one of the Cavendish buildings, the canapés on the tray can come from a kitchen that is a short bike ride away, rather than a van coming in from the edge of London.
These photographs were taken in our kitchen last week. Nothing has been styled beyond what goes out to a client. Here is where they end up.
In the City: three venues a few minutes from the kitchen
1 America Square, EC3
Next to Tower Hill and Fenchurch Street, 1 America Square is the group's largest City venue and the natural home for bigger drinks receptions and client evenings. It is around fifteen to twenty minutes from our door by cargo bike, so canapés leave the kitchen chilled and arrive that way.
The Minster Building, EC3
Tucked into Mincing Lane, a short walk from Monument, The Minster Building works beautifully for mid-sized networking events and evening receptions. It is exactly the kind of Square Mile address where a van struggles for a loading bay — and where a bike simply pulls up at the door.
1 Basinghall Avenue, EC2V
By Guildhall and Moorgate, 1 Basinghall Avenue is the closest of the five to our kitchen. About ten minutes by bike — close enough that a pastry case made that morning still snaps when your guests bite into it.
In the West End: two venues in Marylebone
44 Hallam Street, W1
Between Great Portland Street and Oxford Circus, 44 Hallam Street is a favourite for training days and conferences that end with drinks. A tray of canapés at five o'clock turns a long day of sessions into a proper evening.
22 Duchess Mews, W1
A quieter mews address just off Portland Place, 22 Duchess Mews suits smaller, more private gatherings — board dinners, team celebrations, a launch for thirty rather than three hundred. That is where our no-huge-minimum approach earns its keep: each item is twenty canapés, with a £150 minimum order.
Why a kitchen nearby makes a better canapé
A canapé starts to change the moment it is finished. Pastry softens, herbs darken, purées weep. The biggest single difference between a good canapé and a tired one is the time between the kitchen and the guest.
So we keep that time short:
- Made the same morning. Nothing frozen, nothing held in stock. That is why we ask for forty-eight hours' notice.
- Delivered by cargo bike. Faster than a van through the City, no parking charges, and zero emissions — a useful line for your ESG reporting.
- Ready to serve. Chilled, arranged and straight from box to platter.
- No VAT on cold delivered canapés. Cold food delivered for consumption off our premises is zero-rated, which keeps the invoice simpler.
Planning an event at a Cavendish venue?
If you have not chosen a space yet, have a look at all five Cavendish venues or their dedicated page for drinks receptions in London. If you have already booked, mention City Canapé to your event coordinator and we will work out timings with the venue team.
And if your event is somewhere else entirely, we deliver across Central and Greater London, priced by postcode at checkout. Every City of London and W1 order also comes with a complimentary chef's selection box, because a photograph can only tell you so much.
