A morning behind the camera

A morning behind the camera

Last week we spent a morning doing something we had looked forward to for a long time, photographing the range properly for the first time.

There is a strange honesty to a camera. A canapé that looks good on the plate has nowhere to hide once it is under the lights, magnified and held still. It was, in the best way, a test of everything we had been working towards, and it was a pleasure to see the range hold up so well.

The day was slower than you might expect. Each canapé was finished exactly as it would be for a customer, then set down, considered, and often made again until it was right. Good food photography is far less about the camera than it is about the patience of the person plating, and our kitchen showed a great deal of it.

We hope they give you a proper sense of what to expect. If any of them tempt you towards a particular collection, then they have done their job.
